The family of Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, is speaking out against what they describe as severe and unacceptable jail conditions and a systematic crackdown on dissent. His sister, Noreen Niazi, revealed that Khan has been completely inaccessible for over four weeks, with no family, legal, or party representatives allowed to visit him. This isolation, she stated, is a repeat of a previous three-week period of solitary confinement where Khan lacked electricity, books, and contact, a situation exacerbated by the current intense summer heat. While prison officials have denied any health issues, the prolonged denial of access has intensified fears among his supporters and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Niazi also condemned alleged police brutality against peaceful PTI supporters, including women and children, calling it an unprecedented level of oppression. She has voiced strong criticism of the country’s leadership, likening the current repression to historical atrocities. The PTI is demanding immediate family access to Imran Khan, who is currently detained in Adiala Jail on multiple charges, as protests grow over the restricted access and alleged mistreatment of political prisoners across the nation.
