Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is under fire following the Pakistan cricket team’s string of losses, including a defeat in the Asia Cup final against India. The team’s performance has led to widespread criticism and calls for Naqvi to be removed from his position. The criticism has intensified in Pakistan, adding to the pressure already faced by the PCB head.

The defeat in the Asia Cup final on September 28 has deeply upset Pakistani fans. The captain, Salman Agha, and most of the team have been criticized for their poor performance, but Mohsin Naqvi is also facing considerable backlash. Naqvi, who serves as both the PCB and ACC chairman and holds a ministerial position, has drawn criticism from political rivals.

Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and cricket captain, who is currently in prison, compared Mohsin Naqvi’s actions to those of General Asim Munir, the former Pakistan Army chief, and criticized Naqvi, saying he is doing to Pakistani cricket what Munir did to Pakistan. Munir’s leadership saw the Pakistan army suffer a major defeat during India’s Operation Sindoor. During Munir’s tenure, many Pakistani army and air force bases were destroyed, mirroring the situation of the Pakistani cricket team, which is losing across all formats and competitions.

The PTI party, led by Imran Khan, has accused Naqvi of ruining Pakistan’s cricket and is demanding his removal. Moonis Elahi, a PTI leader, challenged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take action against Mohsin Naqvi, who is accused of destroying Pakistani cricket. Naqvi’s appointment was orchestrated by Shehbaz Sharif, the patron of the PCB. The coming days will reveal whether Naqvi can survive the criticism and keep his position following the poor performances.
