A groundbreaking classified report originating from Australia’s National Security College has detailed a catastrophic failure of Chinese air defense systems during Operation Sindoor, leading to significant humiliation for Pakistan. The 87-page report reveals that critical Chinese military hardware, including the YL-8E counter-stealth radar and HQ-16FE and HQ-9BE missile systems, failed to perform against Indian air and missile attacks. Pakistan had acquired these systems from China, with assurances of their advanced capabilities against modern threats like Indian Rafale jets and BrahMos-A missiles. The report’s findings starkly contradict these claims. During the four-day conflict, Indian missiles flew through Pakistani airspace unhindered, with zero interceptions by Chinese-supplied SAMs. The report highlights the radar’s critical flaw in distinguishing targets, leading to wasted shots. It also points to the ineffectiveness of Chinese CM-400 missiles and the physical destruction of HQ-9BE launchers by Indian loitering munitions, exposing vulnerabilities in deployment speed. This analysis effectively brands Chinese air defense technology as a ‘paper tiger,’ unable to withstand the capabilities of India’s modernized arsenal.
