A bomb explosion inside a school classroom in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province resulted in injuries to a minimum of four children. The incident took place on Friday in Jamrud tehsil within Khyber district, which shares a border with Afghanistan. Following the explosion, security forces secured the area and initiated an investigation. The injured children were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The term ‘toy bombs’ refers to old, unexploded mortar shells, which are often found in open areas near the Afghan border. These items can sometimes resemble toys, leading to dangerous situations. Tragically, a fourth-grade student found such a device and brought it into the classroom, where it detonated, causing injuries to several students.

This recent incident mirrors previous events. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa incident echoes a similar event from last year in Bajaur district, where children were killed. Furthermore, a car bomb exploded outside the Frontier Corps headquarters in Quetta, Balochistan, leading to casualties. Medical treatment was provided to the injured students in Peshawar, and they have since been released. Security forces are conducting a search operation to locate and remove any remaining unexploded ordnance.
