Palamu police are investigating the theft of an elephant, estimated to be worth one crore rupees. The mahout has fled with the elephant, prompting a search operation. Authorities are utilizing a tracking chip embedded in the elephant to aid in its recovery. Narendra Kumar Shukla, a resident of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, filed a report at the Medininagar Sadar police station. Shukla explained that he had obtained the elephant, named Jaymati, from Sangam Lal. The elephant was brought to Jharkhand due to a lack of resources in the village. The care of the elephant was given to Munna Pandey and Munna Pathak. The two men became friends with Tarkeshwar Nath, who owned another elephant.
The elephants were brought to the Jorkat area of the Medininagar Sadar police station jurisdiction. Narendra visited Palamu on August 11th and saw the elephant and mahout in Jorkat. He returned on August 13th to find both missing. After searching in Palamu and other parts of Jharkhand without success, he filed a First Information Report (FIR) a month later. Sadar police station in-charge Lalji confirmed that the elephant is valued at one crore rupees. An investigation is underway, and the Forest Department is utilizing the tracking chip to locate the missing elephant.
