Rishabh Pant’s impressive run continues as he scored a half-century in the second innings of the Leeds Test. This is his fifth consecutive score of 50 or more in England, placing him among an exclusive group of visiting batsmen. His recent scores in England are: 50, 146, 57, 134, and 50 not out. This shows how consistent he has been on English pitches. His good performance has kept India competitive in foreign Tests. He now joins an elite group of players including Don Bradman, Hansie Cronje, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara, and Daryl Mitchell, who also scored fifty-plus runs in five consecutive innings in England. Only Steve Smith has more with seven successive 50+ scores in England. This establishes him as one of the top-performing Indian batsmen in tough overseas conditions. Pant reached his half-century in 83 balls on the fourth day of the Headingley Test. India’s score has exceeded 200. KL Rahul was also nearing his century. At lunchtime, India had scored 153 runs for 3 wickets. On the fourth day, India lost Shubman Gill, who was out for 8 runs. India aims to set a target of over 350 runs. England’s first innings ended with a score of 465. India’s Bumrah took 5 wickets. India had a lead of 6 runs after scoring 471 runs in their first innings.
