Tensions are high in Pardesi Pada as a mosque is reportedly being constructed on illegally occupied land belonging to the Tata Lease Area. Local residents have voiced strong objections and held a meeting to discuss the escalating situation.

This is not the first time the mosque has faced opposition; previous construction efforts were stopped due to community resistance. However, building work has now recommenced aggressively. Residents maintain that the site is on encroached Tata Lease land. Formal complaints were filed with the Deputy Commissioner, SDO, Sonari Police Station, and the Tata Land Department on November 28th, but meaningful action remains elusive.

Concerns are being raised about the mosque’s capacity, which appears to cater to a much larger number of worshippers than the local population. Residents are requesting authorities to scrutinize the origin of these attendees. The construction’s persistence despite administrative warnings, coupled with the perceived inaction from Tata Land Department officials, has fueled public frustration.

There are also allegations of infiltrators settling in the lower-lying parts of Sonari, which residents want investigated. A deadline of December 10th has been set. If the administration fails to act decisively by this date, residents intend to organize a protest at the Veer Manch Akhara in Pardesi Pada to compel the authorities to address the issue.
