In a decisive move, the Patna district administration has addressed the fraudulent issuance of a residence certificate related to the ‘Dog Babu’ case in Masaurhi. One officer has been suspended, and another has been dismissed from their duties. A thorough investigation is being conducted under the direction of Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan SM.

Initial findings indicate that an online application, submitted on July 15, misused the Aadhaar card of a woman from Delhi. The residence certificate was issued without verifying the provided documents.

The investigation found both the IT assistant and the revenue officer culpable for their actions. They are accused of producing forged digital signatures and breaching regulations. The person whose identity was stolen is also being investigated. The district administration reacted swiftly after discovering the issue, ordering an investigation.

Revenue Officer Murari Chauhan faces suspension, while the IT assistant has been relieved of their duties. Additionally, an FIR has been filed against the unidentified applicant and both officers under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The police are actively investigating the case, and strict action is being taken against the offenders. The ‘Dog Babu’ residence certificate has been invalidated. The Bihar Administrative Reforms Mission Society has mandated that all district officials rigorously follow the document verification procedures on the NIC’s Service Plus portal.

The implementation of AI on this portal is being planned to prevent similar incidents in the future. This case emphasizes the need for improved system security and indicates the Bihar government’s strong stance against digital fraud, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
