Patna is on the cusp of a transportation revolution as the metro service prepares to launch on October 6th. The inauguration ceremony will be led by Bihar’s Chief Minister. The first phase will consist of a 9-kilometer stretch of the Red Line, connecting three stations: ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation has received operational clearance from the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner, leading to the official launch date set by the Urban Development Department. Testing is complete, and the metro will begin service at a speed of 40 kmph, using three coaches initially.

    Cultural Showcase Inside the Metro

The interior design of the metro coaches will celebrate the art, culture, and knowledge of Bihar. The coaches will feature the ‘Patna Metro’ branding alongside artwork depicting local landmarks, including the Patna Golghar, and cultural elements such as the Madhubani paintings. Each of the three coaches will have the capacity to accommodate 1000 passengers, with seating for 138 and standing room for 900.

    Safety and Passenger Comfort

To ensure passenger safety and comfort, each coach is equipped with a 360-degree CCTV camera system. Additionally, emergency buttons and microphones have been installed to facilitate communication with the train’s driver. The Patna Metro is expected to be a significant asset for Patna, providing a solution to traffic congestion and improving the city’s transportation infrastructure.
