    Naiduniya Representative, Dindori: In the tribal dominated district Dindori, a special kind of rice which came to remove malnutrition of the tribals along with the protected tribe Baigas, went missing from the PDS ration shops. The missing rice is said to be fortified, the quantity of which is more than one thousand quintals. This rice is said to be rich in nutrients.

    Missing from five ration shops

    Five ration shops in the district have been identified for this irregularity. In this matter, serious questions are being raised on the role of departmental officers along with salesmen. Because this matter is of the year 2023. At that time, the officials of the department had caught wind of the irregularities, but this matter was suppressed. Now after the matter came to light, action is being taken by the Collector.

    In September 2023 itself, the SDM had given instructions to the Food and Supplies Department to file an FIR against those responsible in this matter of tampering of fortified rice, but even after a year, neither an FIR was filed in this matter nor any action was taken against the ration shops concerned. No action was taken.

    This nutritious rice was missing from other ration shops including 708 quintals (96 kg) from Pindrukhi fair price shop, 37.46 quintals from Geedha Society, 33.90 quintals from Karopani ration shop, 97.15 quintals from Kaudiya ration shop, 108.81 quintals from Bijhori ration shop. Has been done

    The aim of the government by distributing this rice was that the tribals and Baigas would get nutrition from it, but this rice was distributed equally. Now after the matter has come to notice, top officials of the administration are talking about action.
