    Sandeep Sharma, Vidisha. The winter season has not even ended yet, before this, a huge amount of filth has accumulated in the Betwa river, the life giver of Vidisha. The filth on the main ghats has become so much that it has become difficult for people to even take bath. There are many villages around the river and farmers irrigate their fields with river water. At the same time, this water quenches the thirst of the people of Staff Dam built on Betwa.

    River contaminated with dirty water from drains

    Local people told that the sewage water of Vidisha is released into Betwa river. Due to this the river is continuously getting polluted. There is an ancient place named Charan Teerth in the middle of Betwa Ghat. It is believed that Lord Ram had come out of this Charan Tirtha place during his exile and his feet were lying here. Since then it has been named Charan Tirtha.

    Muktidham is built on the banks of Charan Tirath

    The main Muktidham of Vidisha is built on the banks of Betwa river. Where about 8 to 10 dead bodies are cremated every day. People throw the waste material left after the last rites into the river. Due to which Charan Teerth is continuously getting polluted. Ramesh Chaubey, the servant of the temples built on the river ghats, said that the water of Betwa river is infested with insects. Due to which there is fear of spreading diseases. He says that there is neither any committee nor is it looked after by the administration. Regarding cleaning, Municipality President representative Rakesh Sharma says that the ghats have been cleaned. Soon the boat will be launched and the cleaning will be done.
