In a video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that recent GST reforms would ease financial burdens and make goods and services more affordable. These reforms, he stated, would make it easier for citizens to fulfill personal dreams by reducing the cost of homes, vehicles, and consumer goods. Modi inaugurated a nationwide ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ as part of this initiative, positioning it as a major step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and inclusive growth. He specifically mentioned how purchasing a house, a television, a refrigerator, a scooter, a bike, or a car would become more affordable. Travel costs would also decrease due to reduced GST on hotel rooms. The Prime Minister acknowledged the enthusiastic response from shopkeepers who are working to pass on the benefits to customers. He noted that price comparisons were being widely displayed to highlight the savings. Extending greetings for Navratri, Modi connected the reforms to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. The Next Generation GST reforms, which began on September 22, are designed to enhance savings and make it easier for people to purchase essential items.
