Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar jointly inaugurated the new 6-lane Ganga bridge in Bihar, connecting Aunta (Mokama) and Simaria (Begusarai) in Begusarai district. The project encompasses a total length of 8.150 kilometers, with the bridge itself measuring 1.865 kilometers. Following the inauguration, PM Modi and CM Nitish took a tour of the newly opened 6-lane Ganga bridge.

A vibrant cultural program was held to celebrate the visit of PM Modi. A large crowd gathered near the 6-lane bridge to offer a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Both leaders acknowledged the public’s greetings by waving at them.

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in a roadshow. Thousands of people lined the streets along the route, displaying their support for PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. The construction of the 6-lane bridge, which parallels the Rajendra Setu, was completed with an investment of 1871 crore rupees.

This world-class Ganga bridge offers improved road connectivity, significantly improving the link between northern and southern Bihar. Previously, heavy vehicles were forced to travel 100 kilometers extra due to the condition of the older Rajendra Setu. The new bridge reduces this travel to just 8 kilometers, leading to savings in time and fuel. Additionally, it is expected to reduce logistics costs.

Lower logistics costs will provide a boost to local enterprises and businesses. This bridge will improve connectivity for districts in North Bihar like Supaul, Madhubani, Araria, and Begusarai, and also in South Bihar with districts such as Shekhpura, Nawada, and Lakhisarai. Local industries, including Indian Oil Corporation Limited Refinery, Barauni Thermal Power Station, Barauni Sudha Dairy, and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, will be strengthened. The bridge will enable easier access to major markets for local agricultural products and produce like Makhana, bananas, milk, and maize, which will promote economic activities and generate new employment opportunities.
