PM Modi’s Ghana Visit: Strengthening Bonds and Exploring New Partnerships

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra, Ghana, and was welcomed by President John Dramani Mahama with a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute. The visit is of particular significance, as it marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in more than three decades. The schedule includes meetings between PM Modi and the Ghanaian President. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit is part of a five-nation tour, which includes Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, from July 2 to 9. PM Modi expressed his desire to strengthen historical ties and explore new avenues of collaboration, specifically mentioning investment, energy, health, security, capacity building, and development partnerships. He also highlighted the honor of speaking at the Parliament of Ghana. The Indian community in Ghana eagerly awaited PM Modi’s arrival, with crowds expressing their enthusiasm.
