A government residential school in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh has been the scene of a disturbing incident. Dhananjay Sahu, an assistant teacher, has been arrested by the police for allegedly poisoning the food intended for 426 students. The arrest was made on Wednesday, following a complaint from the hostel superintendent, Dujal Patel. Sahu was assigned as a teacher at the government residential Porta Cabin School in the Pakela village.

The investigation confirmed that Sahu mixed phenyl with the evening meal prepared for the students on August 21st. A complaint filed against Sahu detailed that he acted out of personal differences with the hostel superintendent, Patel.

The crime was discovered when a Porta Cabin staff member noticed an unusual odor and found empty phenyl bottles close to the food. This information was quickly reported to the hostel superintendent, who ensured that the food was disposed of immediately. Higher authorities were informed and the Sukma District Magistrate ordered a full investigation.

The poisoning stemmed from a previous conflict between the accused teacher and the hostel superintendent. Sahu was previously in charge of the hostel. A student sustained injuries under his supervision. He was subsequently replaced by Patel. This event fueled resentment, leading to the act of poisoning.

During questioning, Sahu admitted to his actions, claiming they were motivated by personal issues he had with the hostel superintendent, Patel. Following the investigation report, Patel filed a formal complaint at the Chhindgarh police station. This resulted in Sahu’s arrest. He is charged under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sahu, who comes from Patora village in the Durg district, has been brought before the court and remanded in judicial custody. The police are continuing their investigation, exploring every detail of the case.
