Gaikwad disclosed that he was consistently in contact with Shubham Lonkar, the primary suspect, utilizing ‘Dabba Calling’. Encrypted applications like Signal were also used for communication.
‘Dabba Calling’ is a method employing Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to make calls. VPNs create an encrypted connection between the device and a remote server, effectively concealing the caller’s actual identity and location. This aspect presents considerable difficulties for the police and investigative agencies in tracing the source of these calls.
