A major accident occurred in Ranchi, Jharkhand, when a truck laden with illegal sand collided with a vehicle belonging to the Namkum police station. The collision resulted in severe injuries to the officer-in-charge of Namkum police station, Manoj Kumar, and constable Amit Kumar. Both were quickly taken to a private hospital in Namkum by local residents. Due to their critical condition, they were subsequently transferred to Orchid Hospital in Ranchi for further medical attention.
The incident caused immediate concern within the Ranchi district administration. SSP cum DIG Chandan Kumar Sinha visited Orchid Hospital to assess the situation and offer support to the injured officers. He gathered information about the incident from the injured officer-in-charge.
The incident happened on the Ranchi-Tata road, near Gadke village, where the officer-in-charge was patrolling to manage traffic. A truck carrying illegal sand at high speed from Rampur collided head-on with the officer-in-charge’s vehicle. The impact was so violent that the police vehicle overturned, leading to serious injuries to both the officer-in-charge and a constable. The truck also overturned, and the driver immediately fled the scene.
The injured officers were rushed to the hospital by local people for treatment. The officer-in-charge sustained a severe head injury and required more than ten stitches. Both were admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi. This event follows a prior incident in the Lapung police station area of Ranchi, where the police were attacked by anti-social elements and an enraged crowd while attempting to resolve a land dispute. In that incident, the in-charge of the Lapung police station, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and three other policemen were gravely injured.
