A shocking murder case has been solved in the Golmuri police station area of East Singhbhum. The victim, 22-year-old Ajay Basa, also known as Jhattu, was killed in what police are calling a ritualistic sacrifice. The investigation revealed that Ajay was sacrificed by his friend, Sandeep Prasad, who aimed to gain spiritual power (Siddhi) through tantra-mantra practices. Sandeep, along with four others, has been arrested.

The gruesome details of the murder were unveiled during police interrogation. The investigation revealed that the motive behind the crime has stunned the local community. Police have arrested Sandeep Prasad, Ajay’s neighbor and friend, his brother, his mother, his brother-in-law, and Bharat, a resident of Kewaltown.

Further questioning revealed that Sandeep had been a practitioner of tantra-mantra for a prolonged period and had been planning to sacrifice his friend Ajay to achieve “Siddhi” for the past three years. Bharat, an accomplice, admitted he knew of Sandeep’s intentions but didn’t speak out due to fear.

The investigation suggests that Sandeep and Bharat purchased a large iron box on Monday and stored it in a rented room in Kewaltown. Sandeep then lured Ajay to the room under the pretext of a “party”. After Ajay became intoxicated, his hands and feet were bound, and he was placed inside the box.

During the night, Sandeep brought the boxed Ajay to his home and began performing tantra-mantra rituals. Around midnight, Ajay’s throat was slit with a sharp weapon during the sacrifice. According to police, Ajay’s blood was used in the rituals. After Ajay began to convulse, his body was left in the adjacent lane.

Following the report, Golmuri police station in-charge Sanjay Suman, accompanied by his team, arrived at the scene and transported the injured Ajay to a hospital, but he passed away en route.

During the investigation, Sandeep made a startling revelation, confessing that he had previously caused the death of Ajay’s father, Jagdish Basa, through tantra-mantra practices a year earlier. Sandeep then acquired the deceased’s hotel. He claimed to have brought Ajay under his control using his tantra-mantra abilities and had been planning the sacrifice for a considerable time.

Adding further complexity, the accused’s father and sister also met untimely deaths under mysterious circumstances. The father is reported to have committed suicide five years prior, while the sister’s death is considered suspicious.

The police have seized the box, knife, and various ritualistic items from the crime scene.
