A political dispute has broken out in Delhi regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed his name was missing from the Bihar draft voter list, but the Election Commission has rejected his claim. The BJP, represented by spokesperson Sambit Patra, has entered the debate, accusing Yadav of spreading misinformation. Patra questioned how Yadav could have two EPIC numbers.

Patra accused the opposition of undermining constitutional institutions with false claims. He claimed that Yadav attempted to mislead the public through a press conference, questioning why Yadav’s name did not appear when he entered his EPIC number online. He then asked, how can one have two voter ID cards? Is this not an attack on democracy? Patra emphasized that the district magistrate of Patna revealed that Yadav’s name was never removed; the number used was the one from his prior election. Patra questioned whether the opposition’s resistance to SIR was related to the issue of duplicate voter IDs.

Patra suggested that with such actions by leaders, the number of voter ID cards held by their workers could be many. He presented Yadav’s last two election affidavits. Patra targeted the RJD and Congress-led alliance, alleging their focus was on family. The Election Commission confirmed that Yadav used the EPIC number RAB 0456228 in the 2020 election, which was also used in 2015 and is present in the current draft.
