AAP MP Sanjay Singh suspended from Rajya Sabha for the rest of monsoon session

AAP member Sanjay Singh was suspended from Rajya Sabha on Monday for the rest of the monsoon session of Parliament for “repatedly violating directions of the Chair.”

The movement for Sanjay Singh’s suspension was moved by Union Minister and Leader of the House Piyush Goyal. Chairman Jagadeep Dhankhar sought the approval of the House for the movement and mentioned that Sanjay Singh was being suspended “for having repeatedly violated directive of the Chair”.

The AAP MP was suspended for the remaining period of the Monsoon session in the course of the Opposition’s protest within the House over the Manipur problem.

Dhankhar had final week cautioned Sanjay Singh saying that he shall be compelled to call the AAP member after he repeatedly protested towards the proposed invoice to interchange Centre’s ordinance for management over companies in Delhi. Dhankhar had cautioned the AAP member after repeatedly urging AAP members to take their seats.

AAP has been amongst opposition events demanding assertion from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament on the state of affairs in Manipur and an in depth dialogue on the difficulty. The authorities had mentioned it’s ready to debate the state of affairs in Manipur.

The Monsoon session of Parliament started on July 20 and can proceed until August 11.
