The Hindu seems to have found a somewhat distinctive manner of spreading misinformation on the web. The caption it has shared on its Twitter account tells a very totally different story than the video the caption is for. The video is expounded to an incident involving Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Arambagh Sujata Mondal Khan.

The caption says, “TMC candidate from Arambagh Sujata Mondal Khan was attacked by BJP supporters, and her security officer sustained injuries.” However, the video paints a very totally different image.
In the video, the reporter may be heard talking in Bengali, saying that the TMC chief and her employees are accused of attacking villagers after coming into their homes and injuring the hand of certainly one of them. The reporter says the villagers have accused the TMC employees of breaking the hand of certainly one of their very own. And due to this fact, villagers got here out in giant numbers towards the political chief.
The villagers may be seen chasing the Trinamool gang with sticks of their palms. The Hindu, as an alternative, presents a very totally different image accusing the BJP of attacking the TMC candidate. One motive seems to be that the reporter speaks in Bengali. Therefore, those that don’t perceive the language can be simply misled by the caption. It is among the elements that seems to have performed a component within the method wherein the video was captioned.
Incidentally, it isn’t solely The Hindu which has engaged in such mischief. Poulomi Saha, India Today journalist, shared the identical video and failed to notice the accusations towards Sujata Mondal Khan.

There seems to be a motivated marketing campaign to trivialize the persistent political violence in West Bengal, dedicated by TMC goons towards opposition employees and candidates. Multiple BJP candidates have been attacked throughout the course of those elections. The media, now, seems to downplay the poisonous political violence by insinuating that the BJP can also be partaking in it.
