West Bengal police denies permission for first rally of AIMIM within the state

3 min read

With the Assembly elections nearing, extra drama unfolds within the poll-bound West Bengal. The anxious Mamata Banerjee has been making an attempt her greatest to maintain her political opponents at bay. Days after making an attempt to debar BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in West Bengal’s Murshidabad, the West Bengal police, working on the behest of the Mamata Banerjee authorities, has denied permission to the firebrand Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM to hold out his election rally within the minority-dominated Metiabruz space of Kolkata.
According to studies, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) needed to cancel its very first rally in Kolkata, scheduled to be held on twenty fifth February (Thursday), after Kolkata police denied permission for it. AIMIM’s state secretary Zameerul Hasan claimed the police didn’t give them permission for the rally.
“We had applied 10 days back for permission. But today we were informed by the police that they will not permit us to hold the rally. We can’t be cowed down by such tactics of the ruling TMC. We will discuss and soon announce a fresh date for a programme,” Hasan was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
It is being stated that Owisi’s get together, which was to kick off the get together’s marketing campaign forward of the West Bengal meeting elections with this rally had made all of the required preparations for right this moment together with placing up posters for the deliberate occasion. The get together stated that it had utilized for permission for this rally nearly 10 days again, however final second, the efforts had been impeded by the state police.
Interestingly, whereas Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has pinned the blame on the state police, TMC has denied any involvement within the cancellation of the rally.
For the uninitiated, West Bengal’s Home Department, which discharges multifarious duties, one in every of them being the administration of police forces within the state, in headed by none apart from the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. Considering this, it’s a little incomprehensible how TMC has claimed of not having a hand within the cancellation of the occasion.
Mamata Banerjee and Asaduddin Owaisi locked in a conflict for Muslim votes
Despite the state authorities’s denial, this transfer comes as no shock. Anyone who has been following the politics in West Bengal carefully is conscious that Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress get together and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM have been locked in a battle for Muslim votes in Bengal, and this denial of permission might be seen as TMC making an attempt to protect its Muslim vote financial institution.
It could also be recalled how Mamata Banerjee had launched a scathing assault at Owaisi after the latter introduced to enter the electoral fray within the state. She had accused AIMIM of being below the payroll of BJP, saying that they had been not directly serving to BJP by dividing the Muslim votes. However, responding to the allegations of Mamata Banerjee, Asaduddin Owaisi had lambasted her by saying that he can’t be purchased for cash.
Actually, the very fact is that Mamata Banerjee has spent a whole lot of her time, vitality and political capital on her Muslim vote financial institution. Probably, like her earlier two phrases, this time too, Mamata Banerjee had been assured of capitalising on the communal vote financial institution to regain energy within the state. Now, Mamata Banerjee faces a predicament. On one aspect, Asaduddin Owaisi is threatening to seize her Muslim vote financial institution whereas on the opposite, the Hindus have already consolidated behind the BJP because of her steady Muslim appeasement. In such a precarious state of affairs, it is just simply that the unnerved Mamata Banerjee needs not less than Owaisi to not enter the electoral fray of West Bengal.
