As Bihar gears up for elections, Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj campaign has disclosed the financial details of his political activities, responding to rising scrutiny. Kishor, who formalized his political party, Jan Suraaj, on October 2nd, has faced allegations of being connected to the BJP. Kishor has now explained the sources of funding for his operations. He mentioned that the funds come from assisting others, and also from fees for political consultation. He revealed that he earned ₹241 crore in fees over the past three years. He also stated that he paid ₹30.95 crore in GST and ₹20 crore in income tax. A substantial sum of ₹98 crore was donated to the party. Jan Suraaj intends to contest all 243 assembly seats in Bihar, and Kishor is actively touring the state holding rallies which target both the opposition and the ruling parties. While some critics consider his actions as aligned with the BJP’s interests, Kishor argues that Jan Suraaj is offering a fresh option to the people of Bihar.
