A violent incident at a bar in the Saulsville township, west of Pretoria, has left 11 people dead and 14 injured. Among the deceased are three children: a 3-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl. Police were alerted to the mass shooting, which occurred at an unlicensed establishment, after the gunmen had already fled the scene. Witnesses reported that at least three individuals entered the bar and began shooting indiscriminately. The motivation behind this horrific act remains under investigation, and a manhunt for the suspects is in progress. South Africa continues to face significant challenges with violent crime, boasting one of the world’s highest homicide rates. Despite strict gun laws, the proliferation of illegal firearms contributes to frequent mass shootings, particularly at informal drinking spots, posing a grave threat to public safety across the nation.
