The vehicles used by leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi are chosen to provide exceptional security. Initially, Prime Minister Modi used a Mahindra Scorpio. After a security upgrade, the BMW 7 Series became his primary vehicle. Here are some of the vehicles used by the Prime Minister over the years.

The BMW 760Li High Security Edition, the first official car after his swearing-in, was heavily armored and capable of withstanding high-caliber attacks, including those from weapons like the AK-47, and featured underbody armor. Designed for comfort and performance, it included run-flat tires, enabling it to be driven at up to 80 km/h even if the tires were damaged. The 760Li was powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine, producing around 544 BHP and 750 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 210 km/h.

The Range Rover Sentinel was later added to the fleet. Custom-made to meet the requirements of the Indian state, it was first seen on the 71st Independence Day. With high-level fortifications, it is designed to withstand assaults and IEDs. The run-flat tires allow it to be driven at speeds up to 80 km/h, even when damaged, and cover a distance of over 50 km. The Sentinel is powered by a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 petrol engine, delivering 380 PS. Despite its armor, the Sentinel accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds, with a top speed limited to 193 km/h.

Land Cruisers are also part of the Prime Minister’s convoy. The armored version of this vehicle was first seen when the Prime Minister arrived at the Red Fort in 2019 for his Independence Day speech. The Land Cruiser is likely powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine, delivering an output of 260 HP and 650 Nm of torque.

The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard, debuting in 2021, is certified with the highest ballistic standard, VR10. This sedan is able to withstand armor-piercing bullets and TNT attacks. It also has fortified seals in the fuel tank and can be equipped with satellite phones and emergency oxygen canisters. The armored sedan uses a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, producing 630 BHP.
