Chhattisgarh Assembly’s New Building: A Confluence of Tradition and Modernity

Raipur, November 1 is set to add a new chapter to the history of Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will dedicate the new assembly building to the people of the state. After 25 years of its formation in the year 2000, the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, which started from Raipur’s Rajkumar College, is all set to get its own grand, modern, and fully equipped permanent building in its silver jubilee year. This building is not just a beautiful structure, but also a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s rich culture, tradition, and faith.

The identity of Chhattisgarh, known as the ‘Bowl of Rice’, is well woven into the architecture of this building. The ceiling of the assembly hall features carvings of paddy stalks and leaves, symbolizing the state’s agrarian culture. Most of the doors and furniture in the building have been crafted by traditional wood artisans from Bastar. Thus, the new assembly building has become a vibrant confluence of modernity and tradition.

State-of-the-art building aligned with future needs

The new assembly building has been designed keeping in mind the current and future needs. It is a fully equipped and furnished building, with its hall extendable to accommodate up to 200 members. Technological facilities required for paperless assembly operations have also been incorporated, developing this building into a ‘Smart Assembly’.

Complex spread over 51 acres built at a cost of 324 crore

This complex, spread over a total of 51 acres, has been constructed at a cost of 324 crore rupees. The building is divided into three main parts – Wing-A, Wing-B, and Wing-C. Wing-A houses the Assembly Secretariat, Wing-B houses the Hall, Central Hall, Chief Minister’s and Speaker’s offices, and Wing-C houses the Ministers’ offices.

Environmentally friendly building constructed with green technology

This building is entirely eco-friendly and constructed using green building technology. Along with the installation of a solar power plant within the complex, two lakes are also being created for rainwater harvesting. Furthermore, all environmental protection standards have been adhered to in the building.

500-seater auditorium and 100-seater Central Hall

The Assembly building features a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity of 500 spectators and a 100-seater Central Hall. The architecture of the building is an excellent blend of modern and traditional styles.

Symbol of the aspirations of three crore people

This new assembly building, adorned with Chhattisgarh’s culture and crafts, will embody the hopes, aspirations, and pride of the state’s three crore citizens. This building will not only be a symbol of the democratic system but also of Chhattisgarh’s identity, progress, and tradition.
