The Simdega district administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kanchan Singh, organized a ‘Janata Darbar’ to directly engage with citizens and address their concerns. The event, held at the district collectorate, saw people from both urban centers and remote villages presenting a variety of challenges. The Deputy Commissioner was committed to ensuring swift resolution and directed relevant officials accordingly. The scope of issues raised was extensive, featuring demands for caste certificates, the urgent need to bring back Suraj Singh, a young man who had gone missing in Maharashtra, the construction of a vital road in Saldega Ambatoili, and complaints related to women’s safety. Participants also highlighted the necessity of providing electricity and water to homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, preventing unauthorized building on purchased land, facilitating the issuance of death certificates, updating land records (Panji-II), and settling land disputes. Anita Kerketta’s plea for a caste certificate, hindered by land record complexities dating back generations, was a notable case. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Additional Collector and the Kurdeg Circle Officer to prioritize this. Vimala Devi from Kolibira requested help in locating and returning Suraj Singh, who was found to be working in Maharashtra. The Deputy Commissioner assured comprehensive support. The public gathering included many residents and key administrative figures, such as Additional Collector Gyanendra.
