Taking care of your car during the monsoon is essential. Continuous contact with water and humidity can cause damage to different parts of the vehicle. If maintenance is neglected, issues ranging from rust to electrical faults can arise. By implementing some simple maintenance practices, you can keep your car in good condition for a long time.

Wash and dry your car thoroughly after rain. Mud and dirt collect underneath and in the wheel arches, increasing the chance of rust. After washing, dry the car with a microfiber cloth.

Apply an underbody coating. The underside of the car is most exposed to water and mud. Getting an underbody coating after the rain is a great idea. It helps prevent rust and extends the life of the vehicle.

Inspect your brakes. Water and mud can get on brake pads and discs, which can make them less effective. Check your brakes after every rain. Get them serviced or replaced if necessary.

Check the electrical system. Moisture can affect electrical parts like headlights, taillights, indicators, and the wiper motor. Check them regularly and fix any issues right away.

Clean the interior. Moisture and bad smells often build up inside the car during the rainy season. Take out the floor mats and dry them in the sun. Use the air conditioner in dehumidify mode to reduce moisture and keep the interior fresh.

Check your wipers and tires. Wiper blades are used the most during rain, so it’s important to check them. Replace them immediately if they are hardened or damaged. Also, keep an eye on the tire grip to reduce the risk of slipping on wet roads.
