Amritsar emerges as a hotspot in Punjab Police’s war on drugs and arms. On January 29, rural police and VDCs jointly dismantled a cross-border consignment, seizing 42.983 kg heroin – a record quantity – plus four hand grenades, a Star Mark pistol, 46 live .30 bore bullets, and an unclaimed bike.

Taking to X, DGP Gaurav Yadav lauded the effort: ‘Amritsar Rural Police, with VDC aid, busted a huge narcotics and arms shipment. Two locals arrested; probes continue to dismantle the network.’ This operation follows a January 27 raid by Commissionerate forces, which netted 1.5 kg heroin, dual pistols (9mm and .30 bore), ammo, and drug proceeds.

Accused in the prior case communicated via social platforms with foreign and Pakistani bosses, smuggling weapons and dope across borders for statewide peddling. Civil Lines police station lodged the FIR, revealing deep-rooted syndicates.

With arrests mounting, Punjab Police is fortifying defenses: tech-driven surveillance, grassroots intel, and public partnerships. Officials affirm relentless pursuit to eliminate these threats, ensuring Punjab’s borders remain impenetrable and its people secure from narco-terror shadows.
