In response to the severe flooding in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced a series of relief measures. The floods brought widespread destruction, significantly impacting the agricultural sector and displacing numerous people. The state has received financial aid from the central government. Mann declared that farmers will receive ₹20,000 per acre to cover the loss of their crops. The government is conducting rapid surveys to assess the extent of the damage to fields and homes. Homeowners will receive increased compensation of ₹40,000, and compensation for lost livestock will be provided. The CM plans to disburse the compensation to the affected people by Diwali. Mann also stated that families of those who died in the floods will be compensated, and emphasized the importance of fair and transparent distribution of aid, with penalties for any wrongdoing.
