Following the devastating floods, Punjab is focusing on recovery, sanitation, and reconstruction efforts. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government have launched a large-scale campaign to address the aftermath. The initiative, spanning from September 14th to September 23rd, covers more than 2300 villages and urban wards across the state. The primary objective is to thoroughly clean and improve every area affected by the floods, from streets to neighborhoods.

Municipal corporations, municipal councils, and panchayats have been given specific instructions to remove the accumulated sludge, silt, and debris. Over 1000 sanitation workers are deployed, along with over 200 tractor-trailers, 150 JCB machines, and hundreds of health workers. Nodal officers are in charge of each district to oversee the work. Each zone has an officer assigned to monitor progress and ensure that work is completed efficiently. Commissioners in municipal corporations and ADCs in districts are responsible for addressing all complaints promptly.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is actively monitoring the entire campaign, staying in constant contact with officials and personally assessing the situation. He has emphasized that this initiative is not just a formal exercise but a genuine effort to help every citizen of Punjab.

In addition to sanitation, healthcare services are also being prioritized. The Health Department is conducting medicine spraying, providing clean water, and setting up first-aid camps in the affected areas. Following an advisory issued on September 5th, all ULBs have been directed to implement sanitation measures and prevent disease spread.

A survey is underway to assess the damage and facilitate compensation. Engineering teams are evaluating homes, shops, roads, power infrastructure, and water systems to provide timely financial assistance to those affected.

To ensure transparency, the Punjab government has mandated that before-and-after photos be taken at all work sites. This ensures that all work is completed to a high standard and that government assistance reaches everyone in need. The cleaning and rehabilitation drive began on September 14th with significant momentum across all districts of Punjab. Municipal corporation and local administration teams have been working since early morning. The presence of JCB machines and tractor-trailers signifies the beginning of reconstruction. Residents have expressed appreciation, noting the government’s commitment to reaching every corner of the state with speed and determination.
