Punjab is on the cusp of a healthcare revolution with the official launch of the Chief Minister Health Insurance Yojana on Thursday. At the Mohali ceremony, CM Bhagwant Mann will dedicate the scheme to the people, joined by Arvind Kejriwal. This initiative fulfills AAP’s pledge to prioritize health, making quality treatment accessible to every doorstep.

Key features include Rs 10 lakh annual coverage per family through a free health card, usable for cashless services in all government hospitals and 800+ private ones. Approximately 65 lakh households will benefit, ensuring financial woes no longer block medical aid.

Volunteers are mobilizing communities by distributing enrollment tokens house-to-house. Citizens simply visit centers with Aadhaar and voter ID for instant card issuance—completely gratis. Public hospitals maintain their free status, amplifying the scheme’s reach.

In a recent address, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh reaffirmed the government’s role in covering all costs, from cards to complex procedures. He warned of crackdowns on fraudsters preying on welfare seekers, protecting the scheme’s integrity.

Echoing Mann and Kejriwal’s vision, this program aims to eradicate health disparities, fostering a robust public health framework. Punjab’s bold step could inspire nationwide reforms, proving politics can deliver tangible change.
