    A recent report provides an overview of the Indian telecom sector’s performance during the first quarter of 2025. The report details the key trends from January to March 2025. Wireless user numbers saw a substantial rise, contrasting with a stagnation in broadband growth. The total number of telecom subscribers exceeded 1.2 billion. Wireless subscriptions experienced a surge, but wireline subscriptions saw a decrease. The tele-density also saw a slight increase. The internet subscriber base saw a slight drop, with a similar decline in broadband numbers. Wireless users consumed an average of 22.19 GB of data per month, and average revenue per GB was ₹9.11. Wireless ARPU increased. Gross revenue for the telecom sector grew, along with the adjusted gross revenue. Both wireline and wireless providers complied with key Quality of Service benchmarks. Furthermore, the report highlighted the number of permitted private satellite TV channels, active pay DTH users, and operational private FM radio channels.
