Rahul Gandhi, participating in the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, has once again leveled the accusation of ‘vote theft’ against the BJP. He traced the alleged practice back to Gujarat and its expansion to a national level in 2014. Speaking in Madhubani, Gandhi stated that he only speaks with verifiable information. He also challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s predictions about the BJP remaining in power for an extended period, implying that this was an unusual claim. According to Gandhi, the so-called vote theft began in Gujarat, reached the national level in 2014, and subsequently spread to other states. He also criticized the 2023 legislation that grants immunity to the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners, claiming it was introduced to allow vote manipulation without legal repercussions. He highlighted examples of date changes in Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections. The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, which has been underway for 16 days, is led by Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and is aimed at raising awareness about alleged issues with voter lists. The yatra is covering over 1,300 km across 20 districts and is scheduled to conclude in Patna on September 1.
