Rahul Gandhi has launched a fresh, strong offensive against the BJP, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of becoming Prime Minister through ‘election cheating,’ a term he used interchangeably with ‘chunav chori.’ Gandhi indicated that his party possesses a wealth of evidence and plans to systematically reveal how the BJP allegedly manipulates elections. He cited the recent Haryana elections as a stark example of ‘wholesale chori,’ where he claims legitimate electoral processes were abandoned. Gandhi revealed that he had presented evidence to the Election Commission concerning irregularities such as fake votes and photographs, but alleged no action was taken, and the BJP has not disproven his claims. He also raised a peculiar voting incident involving a foreign national. Beyond specific state elections, Gandhi broadened his allegations to accuse the Election Commission, Prime Minister Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah of conspiring to attack the Indian Constitution by manipulating election results. He contended that the fundamental principle of ‘one man, one vote’ was violated in Haryana, resulting in ‘one man, multiple votes.’ Gandhi warned that this pattern of alleged manipulation is likely to be replicated in the Bihar elections, building on what he described as past occurrences in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Gujarat. These claims emerge during the Bihar assembly polls, where high voter turnout has been reported.
