Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ to Commence in Bihar on August 17, Covering 1,300 Kilometers Against Alleged Vote Irregularities

The Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will spearhead the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ from Sasaram in Bihar, starting on August 17. The primary aim of this yatra is to protest the alleged irregularities observed in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and the instances of “vote theft.” Gandhi’s journey will span 1300 kilometers within the state. The yatra will initiate from Sasaram and conclude in Patna, continuing for 17 days. This ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is positioned as a campaign against electoral fraud and is intended to challenge those who allegedly form governments through illicit means. On August 14, Gandhi had previously announced the launch of the Voter Adhikar Yatra, addressing the issues arising from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He urged people to become part of this movement. In a social media post, Gandhi highlighted the campaign as a direct confrontation against “vote theft” in Bihar, emphasizing its role in protecting democracy, the constitution, and the principle of “one man, one vote.” He called on the public to participate to ensure clean voter lists. Furthermore, Gandhi shared a satirical video based on Laapataa Ladies, reiterating the Congress’s accusations of “vote theft” against the Election Commission and advocating for the ‘Vote Chori se Azaadi’ campaign. The video presents a scenario at a police station, where a man reports the theft of his vote. Earlier, Gandhi had criticized the Election Commission, suggesting that elections are orchestrated, and cited research from Karnataka to illustrate voter irregularities. The Election Commission has requested that Gandhi provide a signed declaration to support his accusations of “vote theft.”
