A report of a robbery in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, involving a businessman has been revealed as a false claim. The original report stated that thieves had stolen 86 kilograms of silver jewelry, worth 1.29 crore rupees, from the businessman’s home after incapacitating him. The businessman had also claimed that the thieves took the DVR from the CCTV cameras. However, the police investigation determined the entire incident was fabricated.

The case occurred within the jurisdiction of the City Kotwali police station, specifically in the Sadar Bazaar area. The businessman, Rahul Goyal, admitted during police interrogation that the initial report was untrue. He confessed to losing a significant amount of money in online gambling. Goyal worked as a broker in the silver trade and was a resident of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He would receive silver orders from Agra, arrange for its supply, and earn a commission. Companies trusted him, providing him with silver on credit.

Faced with mounting gambling losses, Goyal created a false narrative to avoid paying for the silver and to try to recover his financial losses. He filed a false FIR, claiming to be from Aligarh and owning a company called Shiva Traders in Raipur. He presented himself as a CFA bringing silver jewelry to Raipur to sell to other businesses.

In the fabricated FIR, Goyal stated that he earned a 50-rupee commission for each piece of silver sold. He had brought 200 kg of silver to Raipur for Diwali. He returned 100 kg to Agra and sold 14 kg, claiming that 86 kg remained. He alleged that on Friday night, after eating dinner, he went to sleep. Around 3 am, someone knocked on his door. When he opened it, he found two masked individuals. One pointed a gun at him, while the other attacked him with a knife and covered his mouth. He then lost consciousness.

He woke up at 10 am the next day, with his hands and feet bound by rope. He managed to free himself and leave the apartment. He claimed that 86 kg of silver jewelry had been stolen and that the DVR was also taken.
