The Sikh community’s legacy is one of courage and service. Sikhs have always been at the forefront, whether facing historical oppressors, participating in wars, or providing aid during crises. Despite being a minority, their participation has consistently been exemplary.
Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru, is a pivotal figure. He challenged the religious tyranny of Aurangzeb to protect religious freedom. He was arrested and martyred in Delhi, alongside his followers. Memorials in Delhi honor their sacrifice.
A journey has commenced from Assam to mark the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom, and it will reach Raipur. A grand welcome will be organized near the Cheri Kheri Hotel Punjab Bistro. The event will feature elaborate decorations and stages. The main stage will host prominent political figures, while another stage will be for Sikh community leaders.
The welcome will be managed by the 18 Gurudwara committees in Raipur. Preparations include LED screens showcasing Guru Tegh Bahadur’s history and continuous Gurbani Kirtan. The Nagar Kirtan procession will begin from the Ram Temple, featuring a large parade of vehicles, volunteers, and the Guru Granth Sahib. A special bus will display historical weapons and artifacts.
Over 30 stages will be established for the event, providing opportunities for various groups to offer their greetings. The journey will pass through major areas of Raipur before concluding at the Tatibandh Gurudwara. The journey will continue on to Gondia (Maharashtra).
