The Rajasthan cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, convened on August 23rd and approved significant initiatives aimed at accelerating the state’s development. The key focus was the ‘Developed Rajasthan-2047’ vision document, complemented by new policies and bills. The government is committed to reducing tolls and achieving a $4.3 trillion economy by 2047. Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel detailed the key outcomes to the press. Minister Patel highlighted plans to reinforce medical and healthcare services. A major announcement was the establishment of the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jaipur, which will follow the model of AIIMS. The relevant bill will be presented during the upcoming legislative session. The meeting also addressed land allocation in urban areas and formulated a clear policy for distribution across different sectors. The Land Allocation Policy 2025 will be implemented to ensure fair distribution. Additionally, the cabinet authorized the construction of a 7,000-seat convention center on Tonk Road in Jaipur, with an investment of 3500 crore. The project will be undertaken by the same company behind Bharat Mandapam and will be completed within 36 months. The cabinet also approved the allocation of 1280 hectares of land for a solar power plant, with a planned capacity of 2500 MW. Companies setting up the solar plant must plant five trees for every tree cut. The state is focused on becoming a green energy hub. The Rajasthan Fisheries (Amendment) Bill 2025 was passed, increasing penalties for fisheries violations and prohibiting the unnecessary killing of fish. Furthermore, the cabinet approved amendments to the Rajasthan State Highway Toll Rules to align with central government norms, and the Factories (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2025, which allows for a 12-hour workday and permits women to work night shifts with appropriate safety measures.
