The Indian cricket team’s triumph in the Asia Cup 2025, which culminated in a five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the final on September 28, was overshadowed by an unusual development. Despite winning the tournament for the ninth time, the Indian team did not receive their medals or the Asia Cup trophy. Sources indicate that Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the ACC, has retained the trophy. This matter sparked a strong reaction from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during its Annual General Meeting (AGM). BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla expressed strong disapproval of Naqvi’s actions, stating that the Asia Cup trophy belongs to the winning team and demanding its immediate handover.
