The release of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, ‘Coolie,’ is set to be a major event, coinciding with the actor’s 50th year in the film industry. Fans are planning elaborate celebrations. The Mumbai fan club is at the forefront, organizing various events to mark the occasion. ‘Coolie’ is scheduled to be released on August 14, 2025, and fans are eager to celebrate Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema. Anandi Anand, head of the Mumbai fan club, discussed the fan show of ‘Coolie’ at Miraj Cinema in Wadala at 6 AM. The celebrations will start at 4:30 AM with members from 50 Rajinikanth fan clubs from Mumbai and Mira Road displaying banners. The tradition of celebrating Rajinikanth’s films began in Mumbai in 1991 with ‘Thalapathi’ at Aurora Cinema in Matunga. The theater owner, Nambi Rajan, remembers the old days when posters were taken to temples and blessed before being displayed at the cinema. The current celebrations involve digital displays and fan cutouts. The fan club will have 50 women performing aarti for a 90-foot cutout of Rajinikanth to commemorate his 50 years. They will also perform an abhishek using 90 liters of milk and break 50 coconuts. Yuno Aqua Care, an organization, is giving its employees a holiday on the film’s release day in branches across several cities including Chennai, Bangalore, and Trichy. They will also celebrate by distributing food and sweets to those in need and giving free movie tickets to their staff.
