Ram Narayan’s electricity bill becomes zero through PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, receives subsidy benefit. Ram Narayan transforms from an electricity consumer to an energy provider. Raipur, January 11, 2026/ The government’s ambitious PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is bringing positive changes in the lives of common citizens. This scheme is not only providing relief from rising electricity bills but is also connecting people with clean, affordable, and green energy. By taking advantage of the scheme, common consumers are now becoming self-reliant and participating in energy production along with electricity consumption. A living example of this scheme’s success is Ram Narayan Gupta, a resident of Bhitti Kala in Ambikapur city. He installed a 5 kW capacity solar rooftop panel on his house’s roof, and within just one month, his electricity bill became completely zero. Where previously a heavy bill was incurred every month due to high electricity consumption, he has now found relief through the use of solar energy. Mr. Ram Narayan Gupta stated that after learning about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, he immediately decided to take advantage of it. Under the scheme, a total subsidy of up to 1 lakh 8 thousand rupees is being provided by the Central and State Governments, making the installation of solar rooftop panels simple and affordable for common citizens. The subsidy significantly reduced the initial cost and made his decision even easier. He mentioned that it has been only one month since the solar panels were installed, and during this period, the electricity bill has come to zero. Not only this, the scheme is making him not just an electricity consumer but also an energy provider. He explained that under the scheme, an agreement is made with the electricity department, according to which the electricity produced from solar energy is first used for the house’s needs. The surplus electricity left after that is sent to the electricity department through the grid, for which payment is made to the consumer at the end of the financial year. Ram Narayan said that this scheme is also an important initiative towards environmental protection. The use of solar energy is promoting green energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Additionally, the subsidy provided by the government is encouraging common citizens to join this scheme. Describing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana as public-spirited, he expressed gratitude to the Central and State Governments and appealed to other citizens to take advantage of this scheme to not only reduce their electricity bills but also contribute to environmental protection by adopting clean and sustainable energy.
