A devastating incident unfolded in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where a five-year-old girl was the victim of a rape at a wedding function. The accused enticed the child with the promise of mangoes, leading her to a secluded garden where the assault took place.
The family discovered the crime when the girl returned home, visibly distressed and injured. She was initially taken to a local health center and later transferred to a hospital in Ranchi for specialized medical attention. The accused has been identified as Karmadev Urav.
News of the assault quickly spread, leading to the apprehension and brutal assault of the suspect by enraged locals. Police intervened and removed the suspect from the crowd. The Chano police station has registered a case against Urav, including charges under the POCSO Act, based on the information provided by the victim’s family. The incident occurred in a village near Chano, around 30 kilometers from Ranchi. Initial reports suggest the suspect was intoxicated when the crime occurred.
