Cricket enthusiasts note a significant change for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy finale against Mumbai: Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya sit out. The Thursday showdown at BKC Ground pits playoff-qualified Mumbai against a determined Delhi side seeking a strong finish from sixth place.

The players’ withdrawal is no setback but a launchpad—both join India A for preparatory warm-ups to the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. India A opens against USA at DY Patil on February 2, then meets Namibia at BCCI COE Bengaluru on February 6.

Post these, the T20 World Cup ignites from February 7 to March 8 under India-Sri Lanka co-hosting.

Badoni, with India A credentials in longer formats, pairs with white-ball ace Arya. Badoni’s fresh India squad nod came recently for NZ ODIs, sans game time.

Ashok Sharma, DDCA secretary, detailed: ‘They’re committed to India A’s USA and Namibia games. Ayush Dossage, our top run-getter, captains against Mumbai.’

Dossage’s leadership injects stability, backed by a robust squad including veterans and prospects like Rahul Chaudhary and Aryan Rana.

Delhi squad: Ayush Dossage (c), Sanat Sangwan, Vaibhav Kandpal, Sumit Mathur, Pranav Rajvansh, Siddhant Sharma, Dhruv Kaushik, Rahul Dagar, Anuj Rawat, Divij Mehra, Aryan Rana, Mani Grewal, Rohan Rana, Rahul Chaudhary.

As domestic battles yield to global ambitions, this move exemplifies India’s robust bench strength and forward-planning for World Cup glory.
