The upcoming spy-action flick ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, is currently navigating a legal challenge. The parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma have initiated proceedings in the Delhi High Court, requesting a stay on the film’s release due to alleged unauthorized use of real individuals’ identities.

The Delhi High Court has responded by directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to carefully evaluate the objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma’s family. The CBFC is now tasked with considering these points as part of its certification process for ‘Dhurandhar.’

The petitioners’ legal counsel emphasized that the film’s promotional materials, including its teaser, clearly depict the late Major. They further stated that other characters are also reportedly inspired by real people, with the film’s plot apparently revolving around Major Mohit Sharma. This alleged appropriation of personal narratives without consent forms the basis of the legal complaint.

‘Dhurandhar,’ a creation of director Aditya Dhar, is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film stars Ranveer Singh alongside a formidable cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The current legal review means the film’s path to certification has become more complex.
