Rape at Wedding: 5-Year-Old Assaulted in Jharkhand, Suspect Faces Public Wrath

A disturbing case of rape has emerged from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, involving a 5-year-old girl who was attending a wedding. The assailant, under the guise of offering her mangoes, took the child to a remote garden where the assault took place. The incident came to light when the injured girl returned home, visibly distressed and covered in blood. Her parents immediately sought medical help, bringing her to Chanho CSC for initial treatment. Subsequently, she was referred to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi due to the seriousness of her injuries. News of the incident quickly spread, leading to public outrage. Locals apprehended the suspect, identified as Karmdev Uraon, and administered a severe beating. Police intervened to rescue the accused and brought him to Chanho police station. Based on the family’s complaint, a case has been filed against him under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections. The incident occurred in a village near the Chanho police station, about 30 kilometers from Ranchi. The accused, 25-year-old Karmdev Uraon, lured the girl, who was attending the wedding with her family, with the promise of mangoes, leading her to a secluded garden where the assault was committed.
