The Election Commission of India (ECI) is witnessing significant progress in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls. The ECI is optimistic about finishing the revision by the July 25 deadline. Approximately 47% of the Enumeration Forms have been collected within the initial two weeks of the process, which started on June 24. The ECI’s data reveals that 3.70 crore forms have been gathered out of a total target of 7.90 crore electors, and over 97% have been distributed.
To accelerate the process, the ECI has added 20,603 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), resulting in a total of 77,895 BLOs. These officers are making house-to-house visits. Moreover, about 4 lakh volunteers are aiding elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in filling out and submitting their forms. The election team is fully mobilized across all 243 Assembly constituencies.
District Presidents of all recognised political parties have stepped up the appointment of BLAs, and they are actively participating on the ground.
