Ravindra Jadeja, the experienced Indian all-rounder, has spoken out about his omission from the national ODI squad for the forthcoming three-game series against Australia, slated to begin October 19, 2025. While a key figure in India’s Champions Trophy success, Jadeja was not selected for the Australian tour, with selectors choosing a balanced spin attack comprising Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Addressing reporters after the second day’s play in the ongoing Test against the West Indies, Jadeja stated that the selectors’ decision did not come as a surprise. He revealed that he had a direct conversation with chief selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and ODI captain Shubman Gill, who provided him with the reasoning behind the squad selection.

“I want to be part of the playing XI, but at the end of the day, the team management, selectors, coach, and captain have their own perspectives on team composition,” Jadeja commented. He stressed the positive aspect of this communication: “There must be a valid reason for my non-selection, and they communicated it to me. It was not a surprise when I found out. It is a good practice that the captain, selector, and coach discussed the reasons with me.”

Jadeja remains dedicated to performing for India in any format and whenever selected. His current focus is on his Test performances, as evidenced by his bowling efforts in the ongoing match against the West Indies.
