Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma is close to achieving a world-first in T20 International cricket. During the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, Sharma has the opportunity to become the first cricketer, irrespective of gender, to register both 150 wickets and 1000 runs in the T20I format.

Sharma has already accumulated 1100 runs in 81 T20I innings and is just two wickets shy of reaching 150 career wickets. This dual accomplishment would highlight her exceptional and enduring impact as an all-rounder in the fast-paced T20 game. It’s a statistical landmark that has eluded even the most celebrated cricketers.

While players like Ellyse Perry and Shakib Al Hasan have strong all-round records, neither has achieved this specific combination of 150+ wickets and 1000+ runs in T20Is. Shakib is the closest male player with 149 wickets, while Deepti is on track to become the first to cross both thresholds.

In parallel, Sharma is also set to break the record for the most wickets by a female bowler in T20 Internationals. She needs just four more wickets to surpass Megan Schutt’s current tally of 151. With Schutt’s T20I future uncertain until 2026, Sharma is highly likely to claim this bowling record within the ongoing series. The Indian team is aiming to extend their lead in the five-match series following their victory in the first game.
