The Renault Duster is planning a return, potentially becoming a significant rival to the Hyundai Creta. Production is slated to begin in September 2025, with an anticipated launch in the initial half of 2026, possibly in the first quarter. A hybrid variant is also in the works, scheduled to follow the petrol model within 12 months.

In global markets, the Duster is known as the Renault Boreal. The 7-seater version could potentially be available by the end of 2026 or during 2027. However, this information is based on media reports. Renault India has not yet officially announced the launch of the Duster hybrid or the 7-seater variant. Furthermore, Nissan plans to introduce its own versions of the new Duster and its 7-seater variant, which will have distinct features.

One of the key aspects of the new Renault Duster is its multiple engine choices, comprising a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-liter or 1.3-liter turbo petrol engines, and a robust hybrid powertrain. In global markets, the SUV is offered with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 94 bhp. This setup includes two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery, providing a combined output of 140 bhp.

A CNG version of the Renault Duster is also in the pipeline. According to reports, the CNG option may not be offered directly by the manufacturer but through collaborations like Minda Westport. Additionally, an electric version of the new Renault Duster is being considered. With its varied engine options, the new Duster is expected to provide tough competition to the Hyundai Creta, which is also set to release its hybrid version in 2027.
